Niyc Pidgeon Series: 7 Success Habits
This is article 5 of a 6-part series, and after sharing with you last week the reasons that happiness is fundamental to your success, this week I am sharing with you;
7 Success Habits That Make You a Better Leader
If we look at the most successful people in the world and study their behaviours to learn what it is that makes them successful, we rarely see that it is one ground breaking thing that blows them out of the water compared with the average joe.
Instead, it tends to be a combination of multiple factors – little daily habits, that put together create an overall positive effect.
Imagine we compared your daily habits to that of one of your role models… would they look the same or have similarities?
Or would they be completely different?
When we look at the daily success hacks that thriving people practice, there are a few habits that come up time after time…
Along with these habits, there are 7 of my own I notice the most successful people practice, and I would recommend you practice too.
1. Plan Your Time
Waking up and going with the flow just isn’t going to cut it if you want serious success.
I recommend outlining a loose plan for what you will love to create and accomplish in the next 12 months, and then looking at each month in turn to consider what might be important during that time. You might be working towards an incentive which lands on a particular month, or you might know you are going away on vacation, so need to plan ahead when it comes to supporting your team.
Once you have your annual plan in place, it’s time to look at the month ahead. What would you love to create in this month? You can set a goal to help motivate you along the way.
Then comes the week… planning your week is one of my favourite things to do and to teach, and I know it is so fundamental to your success. By getting your plans out in front you claim back your headspace and work through things so much more efficiently. I always plan in the basics, including sleep, travel, and meal times, which so often get forgotten!
You should then look at what needs to be done, and where you can fit them in to your schedule. Taking your week and then breaking it down day by day, and planning your priorities for each day, the night before, will help you gain clarity, and work more effectively.
2. Work Out
When Sir Richard Branson was asked what top tip he would give for increasing personal productivity, he answered, “work-out”. Branson said he gained 4 extra productive hours in his day on days he worked out in the morning – something I completely agree with!
Your workout might seem like a chore, but that’s probably because you’re doing the wrong workout. I worked as a personal trainer for ten years and I really learned the importance of making workouts fun. Choose something you actually enjoy, and you’ll be likely to do it so much more! Even a 20-minute walk switches on your brain and prepares it for the intake of information.
Next time your feeling an energy slump, or you’re not feeling motivated to work on your business, get moving and get out for a walk.
3. Take supplements
Now I know I’m preaching to the converted here, and you guys are the experts in your awesome product range, but I want to emphasise the importance of both supplementing your diet, as well as being an advert for your business and practicing what you preach.
Our modern diets are deficient in so many vitamins and minerals, and by supporting your energy and your health you become more effective and efficient as a Forever Business Owner.
My favourites are drinking gel every day (naturally), forever lite after my workout, and bee propolis when I fly! Make sure you’re giving yourself the best chance of success by nourishing your body right.
4. Be Grateful
Gratitude is one of the most powerful concepts we study in Positive Psychology – it has the ability to both shift your mindset, amplify your success, and completely change your life in an instant.
Being grateful isn’t anything new, but what is new is the evidence we now have within the science to support it’s effectiveness.
Gratitude helps you feel more fulfilled, increases your wellbeing, reduces stress, and helps you attract more success. Practice gratitude first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and all through your day, whenever you need a little boost!
5. Ask More Questions
A friend of mine who is very successful said to me the other day, “you know Niyc, I learned so much over the years just by asking questions”...
If you don’t ask, you’ll never know, and instead of worrying or guessing, you can learn something, and understand that little bit more by asking a question.
This applies to the trainings you want to learn from, asking questions to your upline, and also asking questions to your prospects and team as well, to help you understand more about where they're at right now and how you can help. Get out of your head, and begin to act with curiosity, almost like a child, thinking about where you can ask a question to help you and your business grow.
6. Get Up Early
The most successful people get up early and get to work! The morning allows you so much space and time to get things done, and without distraction too. If you’re going to get up earlier, though, make sure you're going to bed earlier as well. Sleep deprived is soooooo not a good look!
This wouldn’t be a list of success habits without this last addition – meditation.
First things first, meditation does not have to mean sitting cross legged with your eyes closed, desperately trying to think of nothing. Meditation can be tailored to you.

Meditation takes practice – that’s why it’s referred to as meditative practice!
Have a go and let go of the pressure of needing to be perfect or thoughtless, and just focus on the voice, and on your breathing. Meditation is know to reduce anxiety and stress levels, help improve your attention and focus, and help you think more clearly. Stick with it as the results will be worth it!
There’s a lot of information and ideas in this article today, and I don’t expect you to go out and put everything here into place today. What I do intend for you is that you choose one thing you can commit to today, and focus on building this new positive habit in to your daily routine.
Over time your new habit will become automatic, and once you’ve integrated one thing successfully you can add more.
