Today I am sharing with you the see-saw of stress and success, and how you can both develop your resilience and boost your self belief in three easy ways.

Whilst this is the last in this series of articles, I’ll be back on Thursday with a webinar for you that ties all of these topics together, and means you can get your questions answered in the live Q&A ill be hosting.

3 Ways To Develop Your Resilience And Boost Your Self Belief

Sometimes life can be challenging, and the same goes for business. It’s never just plain sailing and we’re sure to get a few curve balls thrown in along the way.

Stress happens to the best of us – it’s how we deal with it and choose to bounce back from our adversities that counts.

Building a strong business means building a strong sense of self too, and knowing what to do when the going gets tough can really help you bulletproof things.

We study the concept of resilience in positive psychology as your ability to cope with whatever life throws at you – and we look at the ways you can cultivate more.

Resilient people tend to work through challenges by using their strengths, their personal resources that they have developed over time, as well as hope, optimism, and self efficacy – all of which are positive psychology concepts too.


As you develop more personal resources (the things that protect you from slipping in to a downwards spiral), you are able to tip the balance from stress, to success. 



So you now know the importance of being resilient… the big question is, how do you do it?!

Here are my three suggestions:


Remind Yourself of Your Accomplishments  

If you have done something successfully once, you can do it successfully (and even better) again. When you reflect on past achievements and look at how far you have already come, it gives you the strength to keep going.

Consider a time when you felt really accomplished and successful in the past. Cast your mind back to how that felt, and bring that feeling inside of yourself right now. 


Allow your focus to be on your strengths, and feel the feeling building inside of you as you remember how you felt when you felt that accomplished feeling. Maybe it was when you got up on stage to collect a recognition or promotion, or maybe it was something completely unrelated to Forever, that gives you that feel good inside.

As you connect in to your presence and power, you are able to feel what it feels like to hold that sense of accomplishment within you, and know that you will feel it again.

Choose A Growth Mindset


Your growth mindset is one that focuses on learning rather than failure, and it recognizes that everything you experience is sent to give you some sort of growth.

Even if your experience feels awful at the time, with perspective, you are able to choose to see things a different way. Ask yourself, “what is the lesson I can see here”, and take a moment to consider your situation from a broader perspective.

When you let go of attachment to the drama of a situation, you are able to keep moving forwards along your path. In time, and as you practice, the time you get caught up in negativity will get less and less.

Where could you choose a growth mindset today? Think about one situation or experience that you have allowed yourself to hold on to negativity within. Look for the learning today and feel how you can shift into feeling stronger and more positive just from changing this simple element of your mindset.

Reaffirm Your Goals


By building belief in your goals, you build your confidence that you will succeed, and with this belief comes the knowing that things will turn our alright, no matter what twists and turns you encounter along the way.

Choose to remind yourself that everything is temporary, and that anything negative you are experiencing right now, will not be around forever.

You have a mission, and work to do and nothing is going to stand in your way of making it happen!

I want you to reaffirm your goals with a friend today – by sharing your intentions you open yourself up to receive support if times do get tough.

Make sure you’re putting these steps in to action, keep focused on your long term vision, and remember that by working on your positive mental resources, you’re able to tip that see-saw from stress in to success!
