Preparing for Success

I don’t often want to get out of bed at 5am and spend five hours on my bike, but, ultimately, I’ve set a goal, and with that comes a commitment to do whatever it takes.

The goal, to cycle the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana, totals close to 11,000km. The routes wind up and over Europe’s most unforgiving mountains and are revered for their difficulty, so much so that in the history of the sport, only thirty-nine professional cyclists have ever completed all three in the same year.

We all have a will to succeed, it’s human nature, yet how many of us have the will to do whatever it takes to achieve such success? The difference between success and failure is often our willingness to go the extra mile, to sacrifice now so that we can enjoy the achievements of the future. Easier said than done when there are no spectators cheering you along, but it’s the only path that leads to lasting success in life and in our businesses.

Getting up at 5am every morning is not always easy, but it’s a sacrifice that I make because I know that it enables me to perform. The same is true with our Forever businesses. We are recognised at Success Express and Global Rally for our constant dedication, but all we are doing is what’s necessary to achieve our goals.

Our sense of purpose is our driving force, it invigorates and motivates us and acts as a compass to guide us. For me that comes in consistently doing all that I can to be the best that I can be, and knowing that the life I lead is the legacy that I will one day be remembered by; it’s the example that my little boy will look up to and aspire to emulate.

To be successful means, at times, acting not out of choice, but out of necessity. We might not always want to go to a Business Presentation, call a prospect, or give up time at the weekend for training, but we do it because it’s necessary for our future success.

Our success comes not from the bosom of luck, but from the trail of sparks created from the grindstone of constant hard work and unflinching dedication to our goals. How many of us are willing to harness the power to endure, to hold on in the face of adversity, to encounter repeated defeat without giving up? That’s MARCUS LEACH 9 the mark of a true champion; that’s the mark of success.
